Andrew lives on the farm with his partner Julie.
He lives, breaths and sleeps Australian Native Wildflowers and is passionate about what he does.
Formerly a chartered accountant, Andrew worked for many years in domestic and commercial construction before finally discovering his true calling in life.
At any one time the farm can have up to 3 additional workers assisting.
We propagate many of our own plants and also collaborate with a great network of nurseries to supply the farm with plants each year.
We strive to work with nature not against it. We do this in the following ways:
Many sections of the property remain native bush.
We strive to use only organic fertilizers.
Except for the eucalypts, no pesticides are used. Those pesticides used are mainly organic.
Near zero herbicides are used.
After the initial planting, we have a no-till policy of soil management.
We continually mulch our plants.
We are off-grid and generate all our power with solar panels.
Formerly a goat farm, the property was leased out to a local flower-farming family in the 80’s until their leased finished in 2010.
The absence of any active farm management combined with the 2014 bushfires left the property in a very run down state by the time Andrew purchased it in early 2019.
That’s when Andrew’s journey began improving the farm step by step.
The Jonas clan is a proud third-generation flower farming family with Andrew’s grampa (Arthur) and father (Tim) being Rose Farmers in Warrandyte, Victoria back in the 1950’s.
Andrew has been visiting the Grampians from a young age camping, climbing and hiking with his friends and family.
